Author profile: Louise Phillips

Louise Phillips is the author of four psychological crime thrillers featuring Dr Kate Pearson, a psychologist who works with the Gardai, assisting by providing profiles of suspects.

Her debut novel Red Ribbons (2012) hit the bestseller list in the first week of release. Her second novel, The Doll's House (2013) won the Best Irish Crime Novel of the Year award. This was followed by Last Kiss (2014) and The Game Changer (due out in September 2015).

Best Irish crime fiction of 2015


2015 was a bumper year for Irish crime fiction. Among major releases were novels by - to name just ten - Alex Barclay, Louise Phillips, John Connolly, Ava McCarthy, Adrian McKinty, Benjamin Black, Sinéad Crowley, Mark O'Sullivan, Karen Perry and Anthony J Quinn.

There were also some dazzling debuts in the crime fiction department, such as novels by Steve Cavanagh, Jax Miller, Alan Walsh, Michael O'Higgins, Frankie Gaffney, Jo Spain and Kelly Creighton.

And it was a good year too for crime fiction on the small and big screen.

Crime at the Dublin Writers' Conference


There are no fewer than four crime writers taking part at the Dublin Writers' Conference this weekend, from 24 to 26 June 2016 - Louise Phillips, Michael Russell, Sheila Bugler and Laurence O'Bryan.

This is the second year of the conference, which takes place at the Irish Writers Centre and at the Gresham hotel nearby. It includes sessions for writers on digital marketing and writing craft.
