'Tiger Raid' thriller set for Tribeca festival


Brian Gleeson (above) and Damien Molony play two Irish mercenaries on a covert mission to a "tiger kidnapping" in the Iraqi desert in the new thriller Tiger Raid.

The Irish co-production is adapted from Mick Donnellan's play Radio Luxembourg and produced by Dublin-based Samson Films and London's Story Films. Its world premiere is at next month's Tribeca Film Festival.

First look: Rowan Atkinson as Maigret



ITV has released a preview of Maigret Sets A Trap, one of two standalone dramas with Rowan Atkinson as the French detective and Budapest standing in for 1950s Paris.

The cast includes Irish actors Fiona Shaw and Aiden McCardle, as well as Shaun Dingwall, Lucy Cohu, Leo Starr, Rufus Wright, Hugh Simon, David Dawson, Colin Mace and Rebecca Night.

It will be broadcast on ITV in the 9pm slot on Easter Monday, 28 March 2016. France 3 is among other stations that have already bought the drama.

Murder Ink's Dilys Barbara Winn (1939-2016)



Her recent obituary in the New York Times said she "more than any single figure came to define modern mystery fandom", and the Rap Sheet simply headlined its own obituary "Winn Lost". Originally from Dublin, Dilys Winn became a major figure on the international crime fiction scene.

Book 6 in Tana French's Murder Squad series


The sixth book in Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad series, The Trespasser, is due out on 11 August 2016. This time the main narrator switches to Antoinette Conway, the tough, abrasive, working-class detective featured in The Secret Place (2014).
Conway is working well with detective Stephen Moran, but the rest of the murder squad are closing ranks to get rid of her. After the duo get a case that looks like a routine lovers' tiff, they realise someone in the squad is trying to steer the investigation.
