Lewis is back and Endeavour on the way

Kevin Whately and Laurence Fox return for the ninth and final series of Lewis tonight, with Angela Griffin as young DS Lizzie Maddox.

But in this first two-parter their old boss Jean Innocent (Rebecca Front) has been replaced by a new Chief Super, Joe Moody (Steve Toussaint).
Lewis has to impress his new boss in Oxford CID by solving the case of a body down a well, and the apparent death by drugs overdose of a young student and amateur taxidermist.
Lewis's partner, forensic pathologist Laura Hobson (Clare Holman), is contemplating early retirement and a trip around the world to catch the birth of her niece’s baby. Meanwhile Hathaway's father has dementia and is moved into a care home.
Lewis starts on ITV 1 on Tuesday, 6 October at 9 pm.

Meanwhile still no word of transmission dates for series three of the other Morse spin-off, Endeavour, after season two's cliffhanger ending.
Endeavour Morse (Shaun Evans) is being stitched up for the murder of the Chief Constable while his senior officer, DI Thursday (the brilliant Roger Allam), is close to death after being shot in the chest.
Series 3 will have four two-hour episodes and brings the drama up to 1967 and the Summer of Love.

Update 12/12/2015: Series 3 of Endeavour will begin broadcasting on ITV on 3 January 2015
