Jamie Dornan filming siege of Jadotville

Jamie Dornan, the star of The Fall and Fifty Shades of Grey, is currently filming Jadotville, based on the true story of the siege of Irish UN troops in Congo. Production has finished in South Africa, and some scenes will be shot in Dublin and Wicklow.

The Irish actor has been sporting a new moustache for the movie, with several photos appearing on Twitter.

Dornan plays Irish Commandant Pat Quinlan, who leads a stand-off against white mercenaries, Belgian settlers and local tribesmen in September 1961, during the Katanga conflict in Congo-LĂ©opoldville in Central Africa.

The siege marked the first time since the War of Independence that Irish Army soldiers went into battle against another nation's army.

The cast also includes Mark Strong, Jason O'Mara and Amy Louise Wilson. Actor (and director of the award-winning Tell No One) Guillaume Canet plays the French commander who sought to thwart Quinlan and his men.

Netflix has acquired the worldwide rights for the movie, which is being co-produced by Parallel Films.
